FAQs

Nutrition Therapy FAQs:

Nutrition Therapy is a personalized approach to nutrition that aims to address specific health issues and improve overall well-being through dietary changes and nutritional education.

Individuals with chronic health conditions, those looking to manage weight, athletes, pregnant women, and anyone interested in enhancing their health through diet can benefit from Nutrition Therapy.

While general dieting often focuses on weight loss, Nutrition Therapy is tailored to individual needs, considering medical history, lifestyle, and specific health goals, promoting balanced nutrition rather than restrictive eating.

During a session, a nutrition therapist will assess your dietary habits, health status, and lifestyle. They will create a customized nutrition plan and provide guidance on making sustainable changes.

Coverage for Nutrition Therapy varies by insurance provider and plan. It’s best to check with your insurance company to see if they cover services provided by a registered dietitian or nutrition therapist.

The Initial Consultation includes:

  • Miroslav will take a detailed case history, exploring your symptoms and medical history. This process is crucial for Miroslav to understand the underlying cause/s in your case, in order for him to produce a therapeutic plan that truly gets to the root of the problem.
  • At the end of the appointment, Miroslav will spend some time explaining his understanding of your case, and you will leave the session with a clear understanding of why you are getting the symptoms you are and, most importantly, with a clear plan of how to address this.
  • You will be sent a comprehensive naturopathic plan within four working days, providing you with individualised recommendations based on your diet, lifestyle changes, supplementation and herbal medicines.

Note: You will be sent a questionnaire and a three-day food diary to complete in advance of the consultation to ensure that the focus remains on key areas of the case history during the appointment. Depending on your case, Miroslav may recommend some further testing to gain a deeper insight into the imbalances driving your symptoms. He will discuss this with you in your consultation where appropriate.

Follow-up Consultation includes:

Your progress will be reviewed, and the plan will be tailored to ensure that your positive health journey continues. Your updated naturopathic plan will be sent within four working days.

Note: Miroslav will recommend your initial consultation when a follow-up session is advisable. When dealing with chronic health complaints, symptoms will often improve very quickly, but resolution or significant improvements can take time, and these follow-up sessions help to ensure that the cause is truly being overcome.

Massage Therapy FAQs:

There are countless massage techniques, each tailored to specific needs:

  • Swedish Massage: Known for its gentle strokes, it’s great for relaxation and stress relief.
  • Deep Tissue Massage: Targets deeper layers of muscles and connective tissues, perfect for chronic pain.
  • Sports Massage: Designed for athletes, focusing on areas of the body that are overused and stressed from repetitive movements.

Massage therapy can offer numerous health benefits, including:

  • Stress Reduction: Helps lower cortisol levels, promoting relaxation.
  • Pain Relief: Eases muscle tension and reduces pain from conditions like arthritis.
  • Improved Circulation: Enhances blood flow, which helps in healing and overall vitality.
  • Enhanced Flexibility: Regular massages can increase your range of motion.
  • Better Sleep: Promotes deeper and more restful sleep by calming the nervous system.

While massage is generally safe, there are scenarios where caution is necessary:

  • Medical Conditions: Individuals with certain conditions like deep vein thrombosis, severe osteoporosis, or recent surgery should consult a doctor first.
  • Pregnancy: Prenatal massage is safe in most cases but should be done by a therapist trained in this area.
  • Infections: Avoid massage if you have a skin infection or fever.

Frequency depends on your personal needs and goals:

  • Chronic Pain or Stress: Weekly sessions might be beneficial.
  • General Well-being: Once a month can help maintain overall health.
  • Athletic Recovery: Athletes might benefit from more frequent massages, especially around training and competition times.

First-time experiences can be nerve-wracking, but knowing what to expect helps:

  • Consultation: Your therapist will ask about your health history and areas of concern.
  • Comfort: You’re typically asked to undress to your comfort level and will be properly draped with a sheet or towel.
  • Feedback: Communicate with your therapist about pressure and comfort throughout the session.
  • Relaxation: Allow yourself to relax and breathe deeply; it’s your time to unwind.
